Chipmunk First Flight Anniversary

Old Warden 22 May 2016

The day was a great success. 49 Chipmunks took part, 19 of them in a very special formation. Other Chipmunks tried hard to be there but were defeated either by extended maintenance or the weather.

The organisers are grateful to the following for their unstinting support:

  • All the owners and pilots of the Chipmunks that took part
  • The Shuttleworth Collection for the use of Old Warden Aerodrome
  • RAF Henlow for supporting the formation practice sessions
  • All the volunteers who willingly gave their time to make the day a success
  • Pooleys Flight Equipment for their sponsorship of the 70th and Formation patches and for providing the goody bags for each Chipmunk pilot
  • Vintage Engine Technology (Vintech) for their very generous support
  • The Airfield Volunteer Fire Service who gave their services without charge
  • The North Weald Marshallers who did a sterling job
  • Whoever organised the weather, despite what the forecast was saying!!!
